Santa Cruz

On January 20, 2007, the WaveChaser Series returns to Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz has been a regular stop on the WaveChaser Series, but this venue wasn't included in last year's Series.

The race staging area will be the parking lot and beach adjacent to the boat ramp on the east side of the Santa Cruz harbor. You may purchase a daily parking permit for $5, or feed the parking meters with quarters. The novice course will stay within protected waters of the Santa Cruz harbor. The short and long courses will be entirely in the open ocean. The final decision for short and long courses will be made on race day based on the conditions of the day. For the long course we typically do an out and back where we go into the wind and waves on the way out and return with the wind and waves at our backs. If there is minimal swell on race day, we will start and finish the long and short courses on the beach. Otherwise the start and finish will be a boat anchored a few hundred yards off the beach and the paddlers can launch and take out at the boat ramp inside the harbor.

9:00 novice course (2 miles)
10:00 short course (5 miles)
11:30 pm long course (10 miles)
