The race staging area will be the parking lot on the west side of the Santa Cruz Harbor. This is the opposite side of the harbor from the boat ramp and last years race. You may purchase a daily parking permit for $5 (we'll have them for sale), or feed the parking meters with quarters.

The novice course will stay within protected waters of the Santa Cruz harbor. The short and long courses will be entirely in the open ocean. The final decision for short and long courses will be made on race day based on the conditions of the day. For the long course we typically do an out and back where we go into the wind and waves on the way out and return with the wind and waves at our backs. The long and short course start and finish will be a boat anchored a few hundred yards off the beach and the paddlers can launch and take out at the boat ramp inside the harbor.
